Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has warned Adnan Januzaj he must be patient.
Januzaj netted a hat-trick in a under-21 match earlier this week to catch the eye of the veteran Dutch coach.
But he says the 19-year-old will have to sit tight and wait for his chance to shine.
"He has to compete with very good players," Van Gaal said. "That's the reason he hasn't started yet.
"You can't put 15 players in the squad, only 11.
"With this system he has to compete with a lot of potentially very strong strikers.
"When we play 4-3-3 then he should have maybe more chances but it also depends on the system we play. When I have changed my system he played."
