Man Utd boss Van Gaal talks up Jesse Lingard quality

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says Jesse Lingard is nearing a first team return.

Unfortunately, Lingard's debut at wing-back was cruelly ended in the first half when he hurt his knee in a tackle with Swansea stopper Ashley Williams. Three months later, the young midfielder's bid to reach full fitness continues but the progress he has made so far at the Aon Training Complex has surprised and delighted van Gaal.

"He's come back unbelievably quickly because we thought it would take longer," the boss enthused to MUTV.

"I'm very pleased with him. But I don't want to say too much about the injured players, because we have a squad which has to solve that [selection] problem."
