Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal fancies a reunion with Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

Romero is off contract at Sampdoria and in talks with United and Roma this week, according to Italian media sources.

The experienced goalkeeper is well known to Van Gaal, having played for the Dutchman at AZ Alkmaar.

Van Gaal is facing uncertainty over his keeper stocks, with both David de Gea and Victor Valdes linked with Real Madrid this week.

For his part, Romero is open to moving to England, having in the past revealed contact with United and Liverpool.
