Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal insists he'd like to socialise with rival managers after games - but they always go missing!

Van Gaal has exposed one of English football's great traditions as a myth.

"After the games I have read that I'm drinking a glass of wine with the other manager," he smiled.

"Now I'm the guy who wants always to drink a glass of wine. And last season I only drink wine with the manager of West Bromwich Albion — he's a nice guy. And away from home I think it happened two times.

"But it is difficult because after the game there's a lot of people (media) who want to do something with you. It's mostly the assistants are always together."
