Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is pushing for talks with Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.
The Mail on Sunday says this summer Van Gaal will try to persuade Germany centre-half Hummels to join from BVB.
The Dutchman brought through Hummels at Bayern Munich and has remained a fan.
