Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal continued his tirade against English football's Christmas traditions yesterday.Manchester United and Stoke have both played two matches already since Christmas, with United beating Newcastle 3-1 at home on Boxing Day before drawing 0-0 at Spurs on Sunday.
Van Gaal, who has a trip to Yeovil in the FA Cup on Sunday, said: "Everybody knows the body cannot recover in 48 hours. UEFA and FIFA has a rule, scientifically proven, everybody knows it, but we play.
"It's the culture of England, but it's not good for the players and not good for the game.
"The FA and fans want attractive football but you see the second half against Tottenham and... (sarcastically clapped his hands)."
He added: "There are players coming back. We played three or four games in the space of a week, so we need these players now more than ever. It's now difficult for me to select the team."
