Manchester United are pushing Barcelona to release Thiago Alcantara this week.

AS says United boss David Moyes wants Thiago signed before preseason kicks off next week. The midfielder's buyout clause is set at €18 million, but United are prepared to go higher to €22 million to ward off any rivals.

United have been watching the 22 year-old for three years and Moyes is convinced about the impact Thiago will make on and off the pitch at Old Trafford.

A base salary of €4.4 million has been agreed, which is a significant hike on what Thiago is currently earning at Barca.
