Manchester United boss David Moyes made sure to mention Wayne Rooney when talking up Robin van Persie yesterday. Moyes acknowledged van Persie was one of the best strikers he had worked with, but reserved special mention for his United team-mate Rooney, despite the England striker remaining determined to quit Old Trafford for Chelsea.
"Look, I worked with Wayne Rooney when he was a 16-year-old boy," said Moyes, when asked whether van Persie was the best forward he'd managed.
"But I've got to say at the moment, the way I've seen Robin - world-class is sometimes used quite loosely - but I think it'd be hard not to put him in that category, that's for sure."
