Manchester United boss David Moyes refused to criticise Marouane Fellaini after his dismissal in their 0-0 draw at Champions League opponents Real Sociedad.
Moyes felt the game suffered from "strange" refereeing decisions, after Fellaini received a second yellow card from referee Nicola Rizzoli late on.
"I think it [Fellaini's dismissal] was a 'totting up', at the end of the day. It was harsh, because he played well," Moyes said.
"I thought there were a few strange decisions all night. Throughout the night, there were a few things that I found hard - the crowd whistled for a lot of things."
