Manchester United boss David Moyes is hoping to see Wayne Rooney kick on after his goalscoring comeback against Crystal Palace.
Rooney struck a superb free-kick in the 2-0 win.
Asked if Rooney's goal could prove to be significant, Moyes said: "I think that is right. To get him back, it has been so stop-start through pre-season, to get him to this situation, that was a big moment for him.
"It was a great free-kick and I am sure he has gained confidence. The crowd have given him a great lift and hopefully he can repay them with plenty of goals. He needs a period to get back to what he does best."
