Manchester United chief Ed Woodward gave Jose Mourinho a boost going into yesterday's triumphant FA Cup semifinal win over Tottenham.

Behind the scenes it appears United are extremely happy with the Portuguese's work despite fan dissent.

Following the comeback win, Mourinho told the BBC: "I had this morning one simple SMS from one of my bosses, Ed Woodward.

"And he was saying, 'I believe we are going to win but if we don't the season is a good season. The season is a season where everybody was professional and everybody is trying to bring the club in the right direction.'

"And that's my feeling too."
