Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho doesn't want to wait around to find out what players he will work with in preseason.

Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred is expected to complete a £53m move to Old Trafford this week.

And according to the Daily Star, Mourinho wants Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld to join before the World Cup commences.

Alderweireld will leave Tottenham this summer, and Mourinho wants to ensure he joins United before June 14.

The 29-year-old will compete with Belgium in Russia and his value could increase should he perform well for Roberto Martinez's side.
