Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho had an interesting exchange with Real Madrid star Gareth Bale in Santa Clara on Sunday.

While Mourinho has publicly declared he was never interested in signing the Welshman this summer, the opposite appears to be true according to Spanish TV.

He was at the centre of an odd exchange before the pre-season friendly between his new and old teams, in the tunnel with Bale.

Mourinho had already greeted all of Real's players at the Levi's Stadium but LaSexta's Jugones programme caught him conveying a message in a relaxed tone.

"I couldn't buy you because you didn't speak out," Mourinho is alleged to have told Bale.
