Man Utd boss Mourinho pushes Woodward for two more additions

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is targeting two more signings before the market shuts.

The Manchester Evening News says United remain interested in Toby Alderweireld and have been in dialogue with Tottenham, having begun discussions over a possible £55million deal in May.

Alderweireld began the summer as United's preferred central defensive target but the club are pessimistic about their chances of signing the 29-year-old, whose valuation has increased after a fine World Cup with Belgium.

Mourinho has also tasked executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward with recruiting a forward, amid talks with Willian and Gareth Bale's representatives. Barcelona have already bid for Chelsea winger Willian while United will struggle to prise Gareth Bale away from Real Madrid after they sold Cristiano Ronaldo.
