Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has identified Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos as his prime target for the summer market.
The Independent says Kroos is Mourinho's main midfield target for the summer, as he seeks to enhance Manchester United's midfield.
In the wake of a lot of speculation and analysis about Paul Pogba's role, the Portuguese admitted that he is actively looking to bring in a midfield player in the summer, and the player is Kroos.
United are now willing to test how resistant Real would be to selling Kroos.
The 28-year-old is also precisely the kind of holding passer that Mourinho wants to succeed the retiring Michael Carrick, and ideally sit between Nemanja Matic and Pogba in the centre.
Borussia Dortmund's Julian Weigl is also a target along with Kroos, although the latter is currently the primary option.
