Man Utd boss Mourinho has Real Madrid target Alvaro Odriozola scouted

Manchester United are threatening Real Madrid plans for Real Sociedad fullback Alvaro Odriozola.

Odriozola is expected to move to Real Madrid this summer after being identified as ideal cover for senior fullback Dani Carvajal.

However, The Sun says Jose Mourinho would need to splash at least £18million to land the 22-year-old as the Old Trafford chief looks to finally bolster his wide defensive ranks.

So far this season, converted wingers Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young have been used in defensive positions.

But both players are approaching the final years of their career and lack the natural defensive ability required to challenge rampant rivals Manchester City.

But Mourinho sent scouts to watch Real Sociedad's 2-1 loss away to Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League last Thursday, as the club's interest in Odriozola intensifies.

Odriozola has been capped twice by Spain, after making his debut in the World Cup qualifier against Albania - a 3-0 win.
