Man Utd boss Mourinho: ‘Goals plus performance equals true happiness’

Jose Mourinho was delighted with Manchester United in the wake of their triumphant EFL Cup quarter-final.

The Red Devils turned it on at Old Trafford to eventually beat West Ham United 4-1 to book their place in the semi-finals of the league cup competition.

There had been a few home matches in recent times where United dominated proceedings but were unable to find the back of the net but Mourinho was thrilled to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Anthony Martial score doubles in what was a very impressive performance, particularly in the second half.

"I'm pleased with the goals because the performance is something we are used to," he said.

"We are playing very well at home. After the goal, we had 10 minutes where we felt it dip and the players could not hide that.

"West Ham's first shot, they equalised, but in the second half, they had the confidence to play and to do it comfortably with beautiful football, which the fans like.

"I told them at half-time, it's not possible to play so well and because of the goal, they stopped to play so well.

"Forget the goal, we are playing so well, we have to keep confident. At half-time we should be winning and we aren't, in the second half we have goals, goals plus performance equals true happiness."
