Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is demanding Raphael Varane be included in Real Madrid's offer for David de Gea.
Knowing De Gea won't demand a transfer to force United's hand, Mourinho has informed Real president Florentino Perez the goalkeeper will only leave for their €70 million valuation.
Perez, says Don Balon, is trying to drive down the cash component by offering James Rodriguez in part exchange. However, his €60 million assessment of James has been dismissed by Mourinho, who regards the Colombian closer to €40 million.
However, Mourinho is prepared to do soften his stance should Perez put Varane on the table.
The Frenchman is highly regarded by the United manager and if he must lose De Gea, he will do so willingly if Real include Varane in the deal.
