Man Utd boss has fingers crossed for crocked Smalling

Jose Mourinho is hoping Chris Smalling is fit for Manchester United this weekend.

The centre-back was subbed off at half-time of his side's 4-1 Europa League win over Fenerbahce at Old Trafford on Thursday night.

It is understood that Smalling has a slight muscular problem but Mourinho is hopeful he can take part in Sunday's Premier League meeting with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

"He had a bad muscular feeling," Mourinho said of Smalling.

"We were 3-0 up so we decided to change.

"Hopefully he can recover for the weekend."

Smalling was replaced by Marcos Rojo at the break as United secured their second straight home win in the Europa League thanks to a brace from Paul Pogba and accompanying goals from Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard.
