Sir Alex Ferguson's PA Lyn Laffin says the first time she met the Manchester United manager he was singing with Archie Knox!

Lyn has been Ferguson's PA from day one of his time at Old Trafford.

She told manutd.com: "I still remember the day he arrived. Norman Davies [former kit man] came into the office and said we were getting this guy from Scotland who was reported to be a bit of a fiery character who had a real reputation. Joy and Norman had seen so many managers come and go it kind of went over their heads, whereas I was thinking 'oh god!'

"I remember hearing him and Archie coming up the stairs singing at the top of their voices and I thought he doesn't sound that bad to me. He came in and introduced himself to everyone and seemed very relaxed - he was nothing like we'd been led to believe. He was like a breath of fresh air. He knew we had a job to do though; he'd been brought in to make sure we won the league and by hook or by crook he was going to make sure we did."

Lyn added: "He is always singing! He starts his morning singing. A lot of us don't usually hear it though because he's in his office at 7am and the rest of us don't get in until 8.30/9am. I think he even drives through the gates singing. He thinks he's a good singer too!"
