Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes yesterday's victory at Liverpool has left them in prime position to defend their title this season.
"Any gap is a significant one when you get to December. If we are still around the top on January 1, believe me we will have a real chance of winning the title," said Ferguson.
