Man Utd boss Ferguson wants Stoke's Begovic if De Gea, Lindegaard fail 'trial'

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has failed to be convinced by his goalkeepers David De Gea and Anders Lindegaard.

The Sunday Mirror says the pair must convince Ferguson not to make a big-money bid for Stoke's Asmir Begovic, who is also being watched by Arsenal and Liverpool.

It is understood that United's goalkeeping situation still concerns Ferguson, who holds a long-standing admiration of Begovic that is growing stronger by the week with each glowing scouting report.

Lindegaard has started United's last four Premier League games, conceding five goals, while De Gea stepped back into the team for the shock Champions League defeat by Cluj.

Spaniard De Gea was an £18million signing from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 to replace the retired Edwin van der Sar.
