Man Utd boss Ferguson wants agents reigned in

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson wants changes to agents laws.

He told Inside United: "Agents need to be regulated in a far stricter way.

"Agents give you a transfer fee that they want. You say to yourself, 'where did that come from?'

"It's not directly linked to anything and the figure is in millions. Until clubs recognise it, an increasing amount of money will leave the game.

"Changing that would be a major alteration that would help the game and eradicate suspicions people have of agents."

He added: "I think we need a tariff for agents that brings them in line with other professions, like lawyers or accountants. They are a very lucky breed because as long as you have greedy club Presidents, agents will always be in the driving seat

"But, if world football recognises the need for regulation that would make a real difference. The set-up has to be more professional."
