Man Utd boss Ferguson: Van der Sar best in Premiership. Last night proved it
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson hailed Edwin van der Sar after his performance last night against Manchester City.
The former Ajax keeper finally returned to action against Burnley on January 16, since when United have not conceded a goal in the Premier League and reached the Carling Cup final by beating Manchester City.
Van der Sar's second-half save to deny Micah Richards when the contest was goalless was superb, and Ferguson was quick to highlight the contribution Van der Sar is making.
"Edwin makes a big difference," said Ferguson.
"I know there are a few young keepers out there doing very well but Edwin is the best in the league just now.
"It is not just his saves, it is his composure and use of the ball. It is good to have him back."

Given is probably the best keeper in the league. Van der sar looks shakey to me.
Reina has only won Barclays Golden Glove you chump. Never a European price. Bow down little Anonymous figure.
luk ther is no debate here.....reina is a very gud keeper and shot stopper, but he isnt tht composed all th time....he is prone to makin some glaring mistakes....ive seen a lot of matches wher he has made bad mistakes....but dont get me wrong, he is a gr8 keeper....given, is also amazin and mostly very composed, but experience, shot-stopping, composure and overall leadership r all qualities tht edwin possesses. u cant rilly compare th 3 as they r all completely different types of keepers....and y hasnt ne1 mentnd cech?? he is probably 1 of th best shot-stoppers in th world...let alone in england...and im not sayin TH best, im sayin ONE OF....buffon tops th list as far is shot-stppin is concnd....but th 1 quality edwin possess more than ne1 is...composure and th ability 2 lift his defenders 2 perform bettr (leadership)...
