Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits he relied on the press in following Robin van Persie's situation at Arsenal.
Ferguson is delighted he landed his man during the summer.
"I never thought we would ever get him. I couldn't see Arsenal letting him out of the door," he said.
"They did their best in terms of financial inducement and the contract they offered him. But when he made up his mind and when I saw in the paper he said he wanted to leave, then obviously that created interest.
"He's here now and that's no problem for me. I'm just happy he's here."
