Man Utd boss Ferguson tips Rooney for big Rangers showing

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson expects striker Wayne Rooney to bounce back to his best when the Champions League kicks off tonight. United are at home to Scottish champions Rangers and Ferguson is confident that Rooney will regain his killer instinct after a very lean run.

"We're expecting a good performance from Wayne," said Ferguson. "We're all looking forward to that."

And Ferguson also expected the team to be more focused after giving up a two-goal lead against Everton on Saturday.

"There have been some lapses in concentration," he added. "The last few minutes at Everton on Saturday were crazy.

"We also had some fantastic chances to put the game to bed on Saturday. But that's indicative of this particular type of team. They play great football, they create great openings and opportunities, but they're a bit wasteful in their chances.

"That's been the case in all of our games this season and a few last year. It's the area in which you say what happened in the last couple of away games has to be a driver for the rest of the season.

"Those last moments in games when we've been in front and not won shouldn't happen again. We've been burnt twice."
