Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson had sympathy for Gabriel Obertan after he missed a superb chance to score on his debut against Blackburn Rovers.
Obertan found himself clear only yards from goal following a square ball from Antonio Valencia, only to find the wrong side of the post.
After Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney scored to seal the points in a 2-0 victory, Ferguson said: "Gabriel was a bit nervous when he came on.
"It was only his second game in seven months, so you have to put it in perspective. But then he settled down and did well. He is not happy with himself and that is a good thing."
