Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits he's surprised to be leading the table by seven points at this stage of the season.

United are seven points clear of second-placed Manchester City, with games against West Brom and Wigan next.

Ferguson said: “It is such a tight league you never expect that kind of lead.

“If we can maintain that lead we will be delighted. It would be better than expected.”
