Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to move for Tottenham ace Luka Modric this summer.

The Manchester Evening News says a proven playmaker and an up-and-coming talent would freshen up United's midfield.

Modric has been pacified since his dalliance with Chelsea last summer by Spurs' impressive campaign.

But Harry Redknapp's team have gone off the boil and the Croatian could decide they've hit the top of their heights. At 26, Modric would be a perfect fit.
