Man Utd boss Ferguson sees Ozil as alternative to Sneijder

Werder Bremen winger Mesut Ozil has caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson at the World Cup.

The Sunday Express says Manchester United manager Ferguson is the latest top boss to be impressed by Germany's rising star Ozil.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been one of the sensations of the World Cup and now his club, Werder Bremen, face a fight to keep him.

Ozil's zest and energy is just what Ferguson is looking for as he looks to freshen up an ageing squad.

And he would come cheaper than the Old Trafford manager's original target, Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder, although Werder Bremen are expected to ask at least £25million for the new kid on the international block.
