Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is preparing a new one-year contract offer for Ryan Giggs.
The Reds want to offer the Welsh winger a one-year contract extension to keep him at the club until the end of the 2009-10 season.
That should bring the curtain down on a career which has seen him break United's appearance record and become the most successful player in English football history.
But it will not mean Giggs's departure from Old Trafford. A coaching role is likely to be offered to him when he retires.
