Ajax star Christian Eriksen has emerged as a top target for Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson. The Daily Star Sunday says Ferguson has pin-pointed Ajax teenage midfield sensation Eriksen as Manchester United's top transfer target.

But Barcelona are also keen on talented Eriksen, 19.

Manchester United have put Eriksen at the top of their wanted list.

Ferguson is willing to spend more than £20million on the Denmark star, 19, who is said to be a target for Barcelona, Man City and Chelsea.

A source in Scandinavia said: "United are hot on him. Trust me, they want him and £20m is the price being bandied around.

"Yet ironically both Chelsea and Spurs turned him down several years ago because they thought he was too small.

"He has since turned into a world-class player."
