Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is planning a massive summer spending spree. No matter what happens tonight at Manchester City, Ferguson is preparing for a ruthless revamp of his squad that would blow last close-season's £50m investment out of the water, says the Manchester Evening News.
In midfield, Ferguson is looking at Luka Modric (Tottenham), Iker Muniain (Athletic Bilbao) and Gylfi Sigurdsson (Lille).
He also wants a new centre-half and fullback.
The Reds have been linked with Crystal Palace's Nathaniel Clyne but to make a statement of intent, a serious bid for Gareth Bale would really fire up the Reds' faithful.
