Man Utd boss Ferguson: Owen can be proud of contribution before injury

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says crocked Michael Owen can be proud of his contribution in victory over Otelul Galati.

Owen's near-post run paved the way for Antonio Valencia's opening goal on eight minutes. Three minutes later he was off.

Fergie added: "It was a fantastic run to get to Phil Jones' cross. He took all the defenders with him and it left a simple tap-in for Antonio.

"It's a tragedy, I really feel for him. It's difficult to say how long it will be. We'll have to assess him."
