Man Utd boss Ferguson orders Rooney in for showdown talks

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is ready for showdown talks with Wayne Rooney. The Mirror says Rooney was due to fly back from Switzerland in the early hours of this morning.

And he has been ordered to report to the boss immediately.

A source said: "Fergie was fuming to read about all this.

"He would normally read any of his players the riot act but he knows because of the circumstances this is not the time for something like that.

"First of all, he will make sure Wayne is looked after and he will give him his complete support.

"But he will make it clear that he has been a fool and cannot act this way if he wants a career at Manchester United.

"All of Fergie's biggest players - Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo - have faced his wrath over the years about their behaviour away from football, but he knows this is not the best moment."
