Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has taken a fresh swipe at Arsene Wenger's foreign policy at Arsenal.
Ferguson, asked if he considered youth production his role, told an audience at the Future of Football conference: "I've got to - no one else will."
The remark will be interpreted as a barb aimed at Wenger, whom Uefa's president, Michel Platini, singled out as eroding the English talent base. Ferguson was critical of clubs' youth schemes.
"Anyone can play a game of football but that doesn't make them a footballer," he also said in reference to the work of scouts, coaches and managers.
