Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says no amount of money is a substitute for good scouting.
Ferguson acknowledges the power of that financial muscle, yet warns that serves also to heap the pressure on the manager.
"Money certainly gives a manager a better chance in the modern game," the Scot said. "It's obvious where all the good players are now.
"Then again, when it falls flat, that's when it becomes difficult. If you make a bad buy it's your responsibility. We've made a couple of bad buys over the years, but in the main we've done all right."
