Man Utd boss Ferguson missed out meeting Man City owner Sheikh Mansour

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson missed out on meeting Sheikh Mansour during Manchester City's victory over Liverpool.

The Daily Express says after Manchester United manager Ferguson criticised the spending of rival clubs, to the disappointment of vengeful City officials, the pair never came face to face as Ferguson was entertained at the match in a separate lounge to the chairman's restricted VIP suite.

Even the man most grateful to Mansour - £220,000-a-week midfielder Yaya Toure - did not get to shake the hand that fed him.

The only players to be introduced to "the money" were captain Carlos Tevez and latest signing Mario Balotelli, with Mansour determined not to overshadow the 3-0 win with his presence.

Due to traffic, Mansour did not arrive at the club he bought last year until 30 minutes before kick-off and he left 45 minutes after the final whistle. As yet there is no planned second visit.

But as one insider said: "It's hard enough for most men to get permission from their wife to go to the football - and he has got two wives!"
