Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has made a personal check on Sao Paulo star Lucas Moura. The London Evening Standard says Sao Paulo had demanded £30 million while United had been reluctant to go much above £25 million.

However, after Ferguson watched the 19-year-old in action for Brazil against New Zealand on Wednesday it appears his interest has not dwindled.

Rumours that big spending PSG are now weighing up a move for the player have reportedly spurred United into stepping up their negotiations to prevent Carlo Ancelotti's side from completing a deal before them.
