Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will not deliver news on Wayne Rooney's ankle injury until tomorrow morning.

BBC Sport says Ferguson will give an update on Rooney's injury on Friday 0930 BST.

The in-form striker, regarded as key to England's World Cup chances, injured his ankle in United's Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

He is expected to miss Saturday's vital Premier League clash against Chelsea.

Unconfirmed reports suggest he has suffered a ligament tear and will be out for between three and four weeks, but back in time for the World Cup.
