Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is eyeing Tottenham coach Gus Poyet as his new No2.

The People says Fergie's interest in Poyet will be met with fierce resistance from Tottenham who see him as a key figure in Ramos' regime.

But if Ferguson offers the Uruguayan the chance to play a major role in United's defence of the Premier League and Champions League, he will be faced with the toughest decision of his career.

Poyet is well liked and respected in the game and Ferguson has been impressed with the way he's conducted himself since retiring as a player in 2004.
