Man Utd boss Ferguson influenced Evra France recall

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson had a big say in Patrice Evra's France recall.

The Sunday Mirror says the fullback is back in France's Euro 2012 squad - but only after Ferguson intervened to make a personal plea to Laurent Blanc that Evra had been punished enough for his role in his country's World Cup disgrace last summer.

Evra was vilified after it emerged he had led a player revolt against Raymond Domenech as France failed in South Africa.

Ferguson, who has maintained a close relationship with Blanc after signing him for United a decade ago, said that Evra had served his punishment and deserved a recall.

Evra didn't play when France beat Luxembourg 2-0 in Metz on Friday night, but he used his call-up to make his peace with Blanc and his team-mates.
