Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson broke his silence over the Patrice Evra controversy yesterday.

Fergie has given his backing to Evra in his racism row with Liverpool's Luis Suarez.

He said of the Evra situation: "We are sticking by Patrice - absolutely. And there's no doubt in my mind about that.

"The FA are doing their work on it and we spoke to them during the week. It's in their hands."
