Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson expects Mark Hughes to soon bounce back from his sacking at QPR.

The former United striker and Manchester City manager was axed as boss of bottom club QPR on Friday, with Harry Redknapp coming in.

Hughes' managerial career looks in tatters having quit Fulham to join a club he expected to move into Champions League contention.

But his former manager at United believes ex-hitman Sparky is capable of rebuilding his reputation.

Ferguson insisted: "The one thing I am sure about is that Mark will be back.

"He's a fighter and you don't lose the kind of strength and character he possesses overnight."
