Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson hopes to have Rio Ferdinand available next week.
The Guardian says Ferdinand is hoping to be available for the trip to Chelsea next Tuesday.
Ferdinand is still unfit after missing the last three matches and expected not to be risked for the weekend clash with Wigan Athletic.
Ferguson insists Ferdinand's injury has nothing to do with previous problems.
