Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has hinted at a new contract offer for Rio Ferdinand.

The veteran defender played his 400th game for the club on Saturday.

"400 games is a tremendous landmark for Rio and what a fantastic centre-back he's been for us over the years," Sir Alex told MUTV. "His performance last year was one of his best seasons and hopefully we'll get another season like that from him again."
