Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will not give up hope of signing Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov - but admits it will not be easy for the champions.

Fergie, who has already had a £20m bid for the Bulgarian turned down, said: "Many players you want to get, you won't get. It's not as easy as the supporters seem to think.

"We still have time to sign one or two but it is never that easy at all."

Spurs have demanded a British transfer-record £38m for Berbatov, who has scored an impressive 46 goals in two seasons at White Hart Lane.
