Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson remains unsure of Paul Scholes' plans for next season.

The 36-year-old former England midfield player is seriously considering quitting at the end of this term.

But Ferguson believes Scholes can have a crucial role for the club and has had a series of talks with him in recent weeks.

The United boss revealed: "I've had a few chats with Paul, encouraging him to stay on. We'll see."
