Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted seeing English clubs succeeding in the Champions League. Ferguson, twice a winner of that trophy, takes his team to Marseille for the first leg of their last 16 tie on Wednesday with renewed intent.
He declared: "It was said last season that it was the end of the 'Golden Era' for English football, but the evidence is there to disprove that. Tottenham and Arsenal had impressive wins and you just have to look at the record of English clubs for the last seven years. We've regularly been in semis and we've been in two finals, Arsenal have been in a final, Chelsea have been in one and Liverpool two.
"The Premier League is a great league. Spurs have replaced Liverpool as the fourth club and are improving."
