Man Utd boss Ferguson happy with fixtures schedule

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has no complaints over their schedule this month.

United face a crunch week at home and Europe with Champions League and FA Cup hopes on the line after today's trip to Sunderland.

And Fergie believes it is ideal preparation. He said: "We now have had a four-day rest from Porto to the Sunderland match.

"Then a four-day rest between Sunderland and Porto second leg and four days before the Everton semi-final. So that is the best position we have had for a few weeks in terms of the spacing of the games.

"Four days recovery is fine for us. It's perfect. We're in this situation every season but to get the four days is terrific."

He hopes the late goal United conceded on Tuesday night to put a whole new complexion on their tie with Porto could prove to be the 'watershed'.

He said: "There is always one in everything and hopefully Tuesday was it for us.

"Losing that late goal was a real kick in the teeth to us. We had done well to get into the position we were in, winning 2-1.

"Our second-half performance was very good actually. At the time you are watching matches you're never sure of the performance level. But having seen the video, we did very well in that second half. Hopefully we can start keeping clean sheets again, which is important in terms of the championship."
